This page describes how to install and run Mathematica
using a single-machine password.
If you experience any difficulties during installation, please
contact Wolfram Research.
-
If you downloaded Mathematica 6, double click on Setup.exe. If you received a CD,
then insert the Mathematica CD. The
Mathematica CD window appears on your screen; click the Install Mathematica to a hard disk button.
Note: If the Mathematica
CD window does not appear, the CD autorun feature might be disabled on your
computer. To start the installer, double-click the CD-ROM drive icon and then
double-click the Setup.exe file in the Windows directory.
-
Click the Browse button to choose another destination directory,
if desired. Click Install to start copying files.
-
Once all the files are copied to your disk, a dialog box appears asking if you
wish to enter your license information now or wait until later. Click the radio
button marked Enter license information now. Then
click Finish.
Then it prompts for a password. Click the Enter Password button.
-
Click the radio button marked Single Machine. Then
enter your name, the name of your organization (iSabio),
and license number . Click
OK when you are done.
-
The following dialog box appears showing the MathID
number for your machine. Make sure your computer is connected to the Internet
and then click the Web button to obtain a
password.
-
The registration process continues through a web browser. Click the radio
button marked I want to register a product and generate a
password, then click Continue.
-
Choose Windows; 6.0.1; Single User; 2
processes.
-
The web page prompts for personal information. Make sure to enter
iSabio in the Organization field.
The email address you enter will be the address to which the password will be
sent. Fill out the rest of the form and click Continue.
-
Password request completed. Wolfram Research will contact
iSabio to confirm your student status, then send your
password via iSabio's
Mathematica administrator. The process will take up to 48 hours to
complete.
-
After you receive your password from the administrator, start up
Mathematica. The same dialog box as step 4 appears. Enter the license
number as before and click
OK.
-
MathID will be filled automatically by the machine. Enter the password you
received. Click OK.
-
Mathematica is now ready to use. Make
sure to read Ten-minute Tutorial first!
